Book DigestGeneral ScienceNCERTPhysicsChemistryBiologyIndex
This folder holds an original, topic-wise digest of the science taught in NCERT Classes VI to X, written in our own words and sized to the CAPF recognition level. It reproduces no NCERT text. It is the static base for the general-science module (Index) and a revision aid, not a substitute for one careful first reading of the textbooks.
The depth target is the correct fact, the correct SI unit, the correct definition, and the everyday application. It is not derivation depth; CAPF tests recognition, not problem-solving. Where a defence or security angle exists, it is flagged in a "CAPF angle" box.
The single-file overview of the whole science canon is at ncert general science digest. Source policy is at sources index.
- NCERT Science textbooks, Classes VI to X (the primary source for this set).
- Lucent and standard general-science references for the three "new areas" the syllabus names (Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science), which NCERT covers only thinly.
- Government primary sources for science current affairs (ISRO, DRDO, PIB releases). For any latest mission or discovery, verify the latest.
- matter, states, properties, mixtures and separation techniques.
- atoms and molecules, atomic structure, isotopes, the periodic table, bonding, acids and bases, metals and carbon.
- motion and force, kinematics, Newton's laws, gravitation, momentum.
- work energy sound, work, energy, power and the physics of sound.
- light, reflection, refraction, lenses, the eye and its defects, dispersion.
- electricity and magnetism, current, Ohm's law, circuits, the magnetic effect and induction.
- cell and tissues, the cell, organelles, tissues, classification.
- life processes, nutrition, respiration, transport, excretion.
- control and coordination, the nervous and endocrine systems, plant hormones, reproduction.
- heredity and evolution, Mendel, genes, sex determination, natural selection.
- natural resources, air, water, soil, the biogeochemical cycles, fossil fuels and renewables.
- our environment, ecosystems, food chains, ozone, waste and pollution.
- First pass: read for understanding, physics then chemistry then biology, then environment.
- Second pass: memorise the SI units and named laws (physics), the everyday compounds and the pH and reactivity ideas (chemistry), the life processes and deficiency diseases (biology), and the cycles and pollution facts (environment).
- Third pass: drill the "CAPF angle" boxes, which connect science to defence technology, disaster response, public health and environmental security.
- Cross-check any latest discovery, mission or technology against PIB and verify the latest.
